As 2012 begins, police are urging road users to think seriously about the risks they face on our roads this year.
With two fatalities recorded in the first four days of the new year, Acting Chief Superintendent Andy Morrow from the State Traffic Support Branch is urging motorists to take a fresh look at their driving behaviour.
“The start of the year gives us all a chance to stop and think about what personal driving behaviours we can correct or improve,” the Acting Chief Superintendent said.
“Can we resolve to be more patient with other drivers, not to speed and stay calm behind the wheel?”
“These are examples of the little things that we can each commit to as 2012 begins.”
Acting Chief Superintendent Morrow said despite the 2011 road toll of 269 being one of the lowest on record, there were still too many people dying on Queensland roads.
“If we want fewer deaths on our roads then we all need to take a moment and think about our own driving behaviour and how we can minimise the risks to ourselves, our families and friends and to all over road users.”
