Police uncover $6.5 million treasure

A treasure of stolen cash and property worth 6.5 million was uncovered by police during a raid at an inner-Sydney storage facilty.

The cash and property was found as a result of inquiries into a storage unit in Crystal Street,Waterloo.

Detectives formed a Strike Force Better in September this year in order to investigate a spate of burglaries in Sydney’s north shore suburbs.

NSW Police detectives allegedly recovered up to $4million in Australian currency, a large amount of foreign cash, 120kg of silver bullion, thousands of pieces of gold and silver jewellery, precious stones, antiques, heirlooms, fraudulent identification, five firearms and ammunition.

Two man have been arrested aged 33 and 56, that are also wanted for outstanding Victorian warrants. The pair were extradited to Victoria where they are currently on remand.

Inquiries in relation to the offences committed in New South Wales are ongoing.
