Just days out from 2012

While many are getting ready to party, Townsville is preparing itself for the event of the year, New Year’s Eve at Reid Park. The evening is to feature displays and a big line-up of free family entertainment and activities to allow people to welcome in 2012 in style.

There will be two fireworks displays including one at 7.15pm for families with younger children and a further display at 12.00am at both Reid Park and Nelly Bay.

“The whole night will have a carnival feel about it at Reid Park and we’re expecting a big turnout,” Cr Tyrell said.

So, what’s happening with Sydney NYE? This morning around 7,000 tonnes of pyrotechnics have been loaded onto barges at White Bay in Sydney’s harbour.

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore spoke of plans for New Years Eve and why Sydney is such a wonderful place to welcome in the new year.

“Having such a beautiful harbour and such an iconic bridge, we just now have such a wonderful tradition of inviting people to a place to enjoy NYE with harbourside seating,” said Ms Moore.

“It provides a safe environment for people to go to and be spectacularly entertained.”

The mesmeric display of fireworks on NYE 2011 comes together due to creativity of Creative Headliner Marc Newson who has had input into how the display will look.

He said “It was both easy and difficult at the same time” coming up with this year’s NYE show.
