It’s been 12 months since Denis Harrold landed the world’s biggest barramundi at Lake Monduran, weighing in at 44.6 kilos and measuring 135cm.
Lake Monduran Holiday Park manager Rob Howell said he wouldn’t be surprised if the record was broken again this fishing season.
“The fishing at Lake Monduran is awesome at the moment,” said Mr Howell.
“Plenty of barra are being caught around the 60 to 70 centimetre mark. It’s exciting fishing too; fish of this size go hard and fast and take to the air.”
And the fantastic fishing is set to stay for a long time. 80 000 barramundi fingerlings were released into the dam last week, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the lake. The park aims to raise enough money to release more fingerlings early next year. Get involved by sponsoring a baby barra and help ensure Lake Monduran remains Queensland’s premium barra fishing location.
Limited accommodation is still available over Christmas break, with heaps of free activities at the park. Why not take the family and enjoy a well-earned break. Who knows….you might catch the next big one!
