The Australian Government has today invited Australian’s to submit their ideas and priorities that should be included in the 2012/13 budget.
In a statement released by Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan he said Australia’s budget is on track to return to surplus.
“The budget is on track to return to surplus in 2012-13 despite the significant global headwinds that have reduced government revenues by around $140 billion over five years,” said Mr Swan.
The statement urged the importance of the community taking part in submitting their ideas as they play a “vital part of the development of Government policies and the budget process”.
In previous years the Australian government received around 300 submissions when pre-budget submissions were called for the 2011/12 budget, just over a year ago.
“Submissions should consider the Government’s strong commitment to fiscal discipline and the need to offset any proposed new spending with equivalent savings,” said Mr Swan.
