Stable on the Strand is four days into their six day bump-in at Townsville’s Strand where volunteers have been toughing out rain and 30 degree temperatures in an effort to construct a town of Bethlehem.
Stable on the Strand has taken several steps this year to ensure all visitors have a fun time without letting the elements ruin the evening.
Stable event organiser, Anne Harley who started Stable from a shed over 10 years ago at Mount Louisa House of Praise said this year Stable is under covered areas.
“Areas have been rain proofed and we have taken steps to ensure the grounds aren’t ripped up from car tyres,” said Ms Harley.
“We’ve got covers over the markets this year, we’ve got covers over the actors, the amphitheater is all covered and the youth areas are all covered.”
A new display at Stable on the Strand this year is “Stable HQ” which displays allot of the changes Stable has been through.
“It has some creative areas in it,” said Ms Harley.
“There’s memories there, photos that go back years and there’s some giveaway things from the tables that you can see.”
Stable on the Strand officially opens to the public on the 18 December 2011 and the runs nightly until the 23 between 5.30pm – 9.30pm.
