After three away games during November, Townsville NBL team the Crocodiles have confirmed they are ready to take on the Wollongong Hawks in round nine of the 2011/12 NBL Championship.
‘The Swamp’ is known to visiting teams as one of the toughest venues to play at in the league. This season the Crocs have won two out of their three home games, with the Crocs winning an incredible 14 from 16 home games during the 2010/11 season.
The Crocs came out firing in their first game of their road triple, recording a stunning overtime victory against the Melbourne Tigers where Eddie Gill was the catalyst with an incredible 30-point display.
However they failed to capitalize on this momentum and dropped their next two games on the road against the Gold Coast and New Zealand.
The clash with Wollongong has the Crocs eyeing a return to the top four of the NBL ladder.
Crocs Head Coach Paul Woolpert is relieved his team can play their fourth home game in their hometown with the chance of coming out with a win.
“We are all looking forward to getting in front of our fans at ‘The Swamp’ this weekend, it’s always a great atmosphere and the support is always a big help to the team,” said Woolpert.
Michael Cedar who has been with the Crocs NBL team for seven years was disappointed with their recent form but insisted they would bounce back on their home court.
“Both those games we lost on the road were ours to win but unfortunately we let them slip. It’s a long season, we still have 21 games left and we’re all looking forward to Saturday,” said Cedar.
“Last season, we built our season on our home record. We relied on our home court and it’s great to play here in front of our fans. Every team loves playing at home but there’s just something special about playing here.”
